 On August 25, 2014, an additional $40,000 in emergency funding was granted to the Nighthawk Recreational Area, with funds being allocated from the Recreation and Sports Department Budget Surplus.

The Second Reading failed for Bylaw C-1275, which would amalgamate three separate bylaws; C-864 Open Burning, C-876 Fire and C-1261 Emergency Response Fees and Charges. New restrictions were suggested regarding open air burning and prohibiting the sale and use of consumer fireworks within City limits.
