Old Grande Prairie Cemetery
also known as Flying Shot Lake CemeteryThis monument depicts the Old Grande Prairie Cemetery which was established in the Flying Shot Lake District in 1914.

Excerpts from Isobel Campbell's Grande Prairie - Capitol of the Peace" state that in June 1913" An application was made to the Dominion Government on behalf of the Presbyterian Church for a grant of land for cemetery purposes". "The Department of the Interior did, under date of March 17, 1914, grant land in the Flying Shot Lake District."

Records indicate that the first interment was November 1914 with the burial of A.W. Hamilton

The Spanish Flu Epidemic of 1918-19 claimed hundreds of lives in Grande Prairie and area. Many of those victims are buried in this cemetery.
