Neighbourhood Rinks
Community Volunteer Projects

Many neighbourhood parks have a rink sites complete with water and lights supplied through the Park Improvement Program.

The Parks department provides the supplies for installing a rink while the volunteer group looks after set-up/take down, cleaning, flooding and some supervision of the site to ensure it is used safely.

Neighbourhood Volunteer Group Will:
  • Be a minimum of 5 Adult Volunteers
  • Include a Contact Person who will receive the hardware and instructions
  • Install the rink boards
  • Maintain the rink as necessary including cleaning and flooding of the surface
  • Once the ground has thawed - Remove and neatly stack the rink boards in the park
  • Leave key, hose, joiners and pins at the Contact person's address 
  • Advise Parks Staff when rink boards are removed and where other items may be picked up

Parks Staff Will:

  • Upon recieving a completed application form the City will deliver rink boards to the park AND leave hose, key, joiners, pins and instructions at the Contact person's address 
  • Provide training on setting up / maintaining rink sites if requested
  • Once the volunteer contacts the Parks Operations Parks staff will pick up the boards from park and the other items from Contact Person's address
