Heritage Resources Department

The City of Grande Prairie's Heritage Resources Department was formed in January 2007. The department is responsible for the Grande Prairie Museum, and Heritage Village, the Heritage Discovery Centre at Centre 2000, the Forbes Homestead Provincial Historic Site, Municipal Heritage Sites programs and the City of Grande Prairie 50th Anniversary Celebrations being held in 2008.
The South Peace Regional Archives, which operates as an independent society, is located at the Grande Prairie Museum. The Archives provide historical documentation, photos, maps and films relating to the personal, political, social and economic life of the Peace Region.
The Grande Prairie Museum and Heritage Village are situated in beautiful Muskoseepi Park, along the banks of Bear Creek. Heritage Discovery Centre located at Centre 2000, Grande Prairie's trade and tourism centre, on the Highway 43 bypass.

The administrative offices of the Heritages Resources Department are housed in Grande Prairie Museum. Access to the site is located at 102 Street and 102 Avenue, which is the entrance to Muskoseepi Park. Turn left at the bottom of the hill to proceed to the parking lot closest to the Museum site. Our hours are:
- Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30
- Saturday 10 to 4:30
- Sunday 12 noon to 4:30
