Annual Report - 2000 in Review

Message from the Mayor

In the year 2000, Grande Prairie truly was the Leading Northwestern Centre.

The City's economy is extremely diverse and its ever growing retail and service sector now caters to over 200,000 people regionally. Developments in retail & service, transportation, health & emergency services, education, recreation, and culture have resulted in the creation of hundreds of jobs. The Alberta Advantage is "alive and well" in Grande Prairie.

Grande Prairie has experienced tremendous growth since I began my term as Mayor in 1992. I expect the new millennium will provide many more years of excellent growth and development for this Northwestern Centre.                                                                              Gordon Graydon

Note: On March 12, 2001, Gordon Graydon was elected to the Provincial Legislature and is now MLA for the Grande Prairie-Wapiti Constituency.
