Message from the Mayor
2001 was a year of many changes and successes. Three Mayors provided leadership during this year. Mayor Gord Graydon moved on during his third term as Mayor to become our MLA for Grande Prairie-Wapiti. Mayor John Boyle stepped up to the challenge of completing the term. I was fortunate to be selected to become the Mayor of this great City in the October 2001 Municipal Elections.
On October 15, 2001, the public chose a new Council made up of four veteran and four new aldermen. The mix of backgrounds and perspectives has created a dynamic energy on Council that bodes well for our future.
Our administration and staff maintained a very high quality of service to the public during a time of tremendous growth. Their dedication to managing change and adopting the best practices available has positioned our City to meet the demands of our growing community.
As part of the great Peace River Region, Grande Prairie is a wonderful place to raise a family, open a business, or visit on a holiday.
Whatever your interests, everyone at the City of Grande Prairie is eager to help you experience Grande Prairie - The Greatest Place To Be!
