POLICY STATEMENT

The City will consider requests for appointment of Council members to external Boards and Committee.


REASON FOR POLICY

To establish criteria for considering requests from organizations for appointment of Council representation on boards or committees.


RESPONSIBILITIES

1. The Mayor will consider all requests from organizations desiring appointment of Council representatives on Boards or Committees.

2. The Mayor will forward to Council those requests which meet one or both of the following criteria:

a) The City financially contributes to the organization or its events.
b) The City maintains a membership in the organization.

3. The Mayor may forward any request to Council, which does not meet the criteria in the policy if, in his opinion, it will be in the best interest of Council to be represented on a Board or Committee.

4. The Mayor will recommend appointment of individuals to an organization, board or committee in accordance with the process set out in the City’s Procedure Bylaw.
