POLICY STATEMENT

The City will charge user fees for selected services provided through the Fire Department.  The user fee will be added to outstanding taxes if collection does not occur.

 

REASON FOR POLICY

To outline a fee schedule for special services or priority request services provided by the Fire Department.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

FEE SCHEDULE

      Emergency Services:

 

     1.   Dangerous Goods Emergency Services above normal fire protection services will be based on per hour charge for equipment and personnel as determined by the City.  The charges shall be itemized on the user fee invoice.

 

      2.   Preventable False Alarm                                   -  $200.00 per call

            Note:    3rd false alarm in one month

 

      3.   Fire Company on Standby                                -  $250.00 per hour per company

            (minimum of 4 personnel and a pumper

             with emergencies receiving priority)


 

      Development Services:

 

      1.   Fire Flow Test and Report                               -  $145.00 for each flow test location

 

      Inspection Services:

 

      1.   Property Inspection and Report for property transactions:

 

            a)      $95.00 for residential, commercial or industrial property up to gross floor area of 2,000 metres square (21,500 sq.ft.)

            b)      residential, commercial and industrial property from 2,000 metres square to 10,000 metres square at $140.00 with increases of $20.00 for every additional 2,000 metres square over 10,000 metres square.

 

            c)      Group A or B occupancies or buildings under the Alberta Building Code definitions at $140.00.

 

      2.   Inspection File Search and Copies                    -  $30.00 per building

 

      3.   Fees for Inspection:

 

            a)      Annual Inspection                                    -  No charge

            b)      Re-inspection after time period                 -  No charge

            c)      2nd re-inspection after time period            -  $50.00

            d)      subsequent re-inspections until item

                     corrected                                                 -  $50.00 each

 

            Note:    When an item of any inspection is under written appeal to the Alberta Fire Council or to the Fire Chief, no service charge will be processed.

 

      4.   Inspection and Document Copies                      -  $  0.50 per page

 

            a)      on file material                                         -  $  0.50 per page

            b)      file search and report                               -  $30.00

 

      Investigation Program:

 

      1.   Investigation Summaries:

 

            a)      fire loss up to $10,000                             -  $50.00 per file

            b)      fire loss up to $100,000                           -  $100.00 per file

            c)      fire loss over $100,000                            -  $500.00 per file

 

            Note:    Providing investigation summaries to interested parties is at the discretion of the Fire Chief as legal proceedings may be pending.


 

      2.   Court Appearances by City Personnel

            in support of investigation summaries                 -  $50.00 per hour

 

      Training Services:

 

      1.   Training of other agencies or fire departments  -$35.00 per hour or $250.00 per day

 

      Communications Services:

 

      Dispatch emergency crews for other

      fire or emergency departments                    -  $200.00 per month plus installation costs

 

      Special Permits:

 

      1.   Permit and Site Inspection for new

            installation or major repairs to existing

            underground petroleum installations                   -  $106.00 per event

 

      2.   Permit and Site Inspection to remove

            underground storage tank(s)                              -  $56.00 per event

 

      3.   Permit to sell Fireworks (low level explosive)    -  $56.00 per event

 

      4.   Permit to Discharge Fireworks                     -  $31.00 per event for a public display

                                                                               -  $16.00 per event for a private display

 

      5.   Fire Permit for Recreational Burning           -  $10.00 per year with approval limit of

            Under Bylaw C-864                                            5 years
