Full-time Firefighters
(Grande Prairie Fire Department)

The City of Grande Prairie currently has challenging and rewarding career opportunities as Firefighters. The challenge is for professional firefighters to provide Fire Suppression, Medical Co-response and Rescue Services along with the delivery of Fire Prevention and Public Education Programs.


Qualifications include:

• NFPA 1001 Level 2 Certification
• Alberta College of Paramedics Certification at the EMR level
• Class 4 and 3 Alberta Driver’s License with Air Brakes (Q) Endorsement
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalency

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have no criminal record and be legally entitled to work in Canada. Post secondary education will be considered an asset.

Successful candidates will have superior customer service skills; good written and verbal communication skills; a proven ability to work effectively within a team environment; show good initiative and innovation; be a quick learner and have the ability to teach others.

The recruitment process will require successful candidates to pass a number of aptitude tests; a job-related physical fitness test; a station assessment; a medical examination and an RCMP Security Clearance.

• Copy of NFPA 1001 Level 2 certification (or indication of graduation date)
• Copy of Emergency Medical Responder or higher certification (or indication of graduation date)
• Copy of Alberta College of Paramedics Registration (or timeline for registration)
• Current Drivers Abstract
• Copy of Grade 12 Diploma or equivalency
• Post Secondary Education Documentation
