Pump 3 Donated

A ceremony was held on February 9, 2005 recognizing the donation of a firetruck by the city of Grande Prairie to the city of Mazatlan Mexico, through the local rotary club.  Grande Prairie Mayor Wayne Ailing handed over the keys of Pump 3 to Allan Kuechle of the Swan City Rotary Club.

The truck is a 1982 IHC Pumper.  It will depart for Mexico on February 19 with three other donated vehicles and equipment.  Captain Harvey Pearson from the Grande Prairie Fire Department will accompany 7 other drivers on a journey of at least 4500 km to drive the vehicles from Grande Prairie, Canada,  to Mazatlan, Mexico.

Once there, Captain Pearson will help to familiarize Mexican firefighters with their "New" pumper.

Check out the Rotary website for trip updates.
