How many calls do you respond to?
In 2007 we had 2316 emergency responses from the two stations. That averages to almost 7 calls in a 24 hour period.
In 2008 we responded to 2481 incidents.

Can I have an outdoor firepit in Grande Prairie?
Yes, but you do need to have a burning permit to comply with City bylaws. There are some conditions, and a cost in getting the permit. Details can be found on the

How can I become a Firefighter?
Grande Prairie (and many other departments) require pre-employment education which consists of NFPA 1001 Firefighter and Emergency Medical Responder or Emergency Medical Technician. There are several schools that teach to the National standard of NFPA 1001. See the

What should I do if I am driving and I hear or see an emergency vehicle?
Slow down, and if it is safe to do so, pull over to the right and stop. Coming to a complete stop gives responders the best chance to predict traffic movement as they negotiate large vehicles to what may be critical life situations where seconds may save lives. Also, it is important to remember that we often respond with multiple vehicles and may have police and/or ambulance responding as well.
