The GIS Department is responsible for:
- Development, evaluation and recommendation of standards and procedures for GIS applications.
- Coordination of user GIS requests and ensuring that all users are aware of GIS data availability and existing future GIS applications.
- GIS data capture procedures.
- GIS support to the organization.
- Ad-hoc GIS data manipulation.
- GIS data analysis.
- GIS Presentation tasks.
- Documentation of GIS procedures and data sets.
- Providing GIS/CAD technical assistance to the corporation.
- Maintenance of Engineering records.
- Production of GIS/CAD related maps.
- Providing information and assistance to other City departments, the public, consultants and contractors.
The GIS Department presently consists of one GIS Manager, three GIS Technicians, one Drafting Technician, and one shared half time Support Technician.
Our staff is proficient with various desktop GIS, CAD and software programs including Autocad Map, Autodesk World, Autodesk Mapguide, MS Office Professional and related software, Internet Explorer, MS Exchange and other applications.
