At the City of Grande Prairie we believe in lifelong learning and are financially committed to this principle. Each year a fund based on a percentage of total salaries is set aside for staff development and training. It is split among the departments and each needs to develop a plan to maximize employee development. This fund can also be used for employee career development and for Succession Planning.
Corporate Training A portion of the overall budget is earmarked for corporate training and includes priorities like:
- Health & Safety Training
- Change Management
- Communication
- Computer Training
- Conflict Resolution
- Leadership Development
Department-Specific Training Each department develops its own training plan. Employee needs are considered in developing these plans based on performance management discussions and career aspirations.
