About us
Helping Coordinate Development of the "Greatest Place To Be"
Development Permitting
Development Permitting is responsible for administering the City of Grande Prairie’s Land Use Bylaw. The co-ordination and review of all development applications and proposals to ensure compliance with the Land Use Bylaw achieves this.
Enforcement of the City of Grande Prairie Land Use Bylaw
As part of administering the City of Grande Prairie's Land Use Bylaw, Development Permitting enforces bylaw infractions, and acts on development related concerns/complaints from the general public.
Have concern? Submit a development related complaint/concern to us.
Education of the Development Process
Our goal is to foster a positive public attitude towards planning and development, by incorporating "customer first initiatives". As a department we strive to create a forum between the City of Grande Prairie and it's clients who have a stake in the land development process.
Our Team
Under the Director of Public Works and the Development Coordinator, who head the department and its staff we consist of:
Development Officers: As Development Authorities, who are appointed to exercise development powers and duties on behalf of the City of Grande Prairie, they are responsible for reviewing and deciding on all major/minor development applications. They are also responsible for compliance of the land use bylaw through Education and Enforcement
Development Services Assistants: Assist the department with the development permit process as well as fullfilling some of the duties of the Development Officers.
We also work closely with the other branches of Development Services to ensure Grande Prairie develops into the " Greatest Place To Be":
