Volunteering with the RCMP
There are a number of volunteering opportunities with the RCMP. These positions are listed below, with a brief description of what each one entails. Victims' Assistance
Victims' Assistance is a team of trained staff who provide information, support, and referral to persons in the Grande Prairie Area who have been a victim of crime or experienced a tragedy.
Front Counter
Front Counter volunteers perform a number of administrative tasks such as filling out forms and assisting the public.
Citizens on Patrol (COPs)
The COPs program offers a chance for dedicated community volunteers to act as extra eyes and ears for the police, observing and reporting any possible criminal activity in their area.
Auxiliary Constable
Auxiliary Constables are trained volunteers who assist regular members in non-dangerous situations, carrying all the powers of a peace officer while on duty.
Rural Crime Watch
Rural Crime Watch provides a network through which people living in the areas surrounding Grande Prairie can work together towards crime prevention.
Community Action on Crime Prevention
Community Action on Crime Prevention is a City initiative, and partners with the RCMP. They offer a number of committees and programs dedicated to taking a community-driven approach to reducing crime in the Grande Prairie Area.
