Aquatics & Wellness Multiplex
The current plans include an aquatics and wellness multiplex to serve North West Alberta and North East British Columbia. The project is in the tender phase (closing September 11, 2008). Construction is forecast to commence in October 2008 and to open early 2011. The Multiplex will feature:
- a wide variety of water play for all ages such as an adventure river, water playground, waterslides

- 54 metre competitive pool for a variety of uses (synchro swimming, kayaking, lane swimming, water polo, scuba diving, etc)
- 25 metre warm water, barrier-free access pool for programs (youth, seniors)
- family and adult hot tubs
- sauna & steam rooms
- 5 metre platform diving tower
- two 1 metre and two 3 metre springboards
- 15,000 sq ft fitness area (cardio/fitness/weight training)
- separate wet/dry change rooms plus large family change room
- 175 metre running track on third floor
- fieldhouse for multiple uses including soccer and team dressing rooms
- Four Squash/Raquet Ball Courts
- Full Service Restaurant overlooking fieldhouse
- childcare space and indoor playground
- space for cardio rehab programming
- meeting rooms
- barrier free access
- flexible lease spaces (will include space for health providers, retail, food service, community group offices) Revenue from these spaces helps to offset the operating costs of the facility

The goal is to build a facility that meets the needs of all sectors of the community while recovering costs as much as possible. This facility will compare favourably to other multiplex facilities located in Alberta. The business plan also identifies a comparison between the multiplex at the Community Knowledge Campus in Grande Prairie with those excellent facilities in Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, St. Albert, Kelowna, Saskatoon and Medicine Hat.
