Summer Playground Program


The City of Grande Prairie, Recreation and Culture Department offers a variety of summer playground programs for children aged 3 to 11 years. The Kidzone Program includes:


So what is the difference between them?

Sun Busters

  • A combination of games, arts, crafts, movement and music.
  • A structures half day camp for children ages 3 - 5 years.
  • Morning (9:00 - 11:30am) or Afternoon (1:00 - 3:30 pm) sessions are available
  • Sun Busters is located at Kateri Mission School

Play Zone

  • A combination of games, sports, arts and crafts
  • A structured full day program, 9:00 am until 3:00 pm
  • This program is best suited for children aged 6 to 11 years
  • Play Zone is available at either the D. Company Armouries or at the Hillside Hut

Adventure Zone

  • Children participate in games, sports, arts and crafts
  • A structured full day program, 9:00 am until 3:00 pm
  • This program is best suited for children aged 6 to 11 years
  • Adventure Zone is located at Crystal Park School

Active Zone

  • Children participate in a wide variety of active games and sports
  • Active Zone is best suited for very active children
  • A structured full day program, 9:00 am until 3:00 pm
  • This program is best suited for children aged 8 to 11 years
  • Active Zone is located at Montrose School


The Kidzone Program operates for seven (7) weeks throughout the summer, all programs begin in early July and run until the middle of August. The Kidzone Program is available Monday through Friday.
