Grande Prairie and Area Drug Action Committee
Dedicated to reducing the presence of drugs and their effects within the Grande Prairie Area, the Drug Action Committee has one of the largest and most varied member bases within CACP. This is one of the committees formed to deal with the three Root Causes of Crime identified in the April 2004 forums.
With a strong focus on methamphetamines this past year, the Drug Action Committee has been responsible for bringing in a number of law enforcement officers and other knowledgeable persons to give a variety of presentations to students, parents, professionals, and citizens. This included presentations by Sgt. Ian Sanderson on Drug Trends in Alberta and an evening session by Vancouver's Odd Squad, a group of Vancouver City Police Officers who have developed an intimate knowledge of the drug problems in Vancouver's "Skid Row" through their production of the world-renowned video Through a Blue Lens.
