Report a Drug House Program

To report a possible drug house, please call 830-7444 and leave a message with the address of the house and any additional information you can provide. You may be contacted by staff to follow up on the matter. All calls are kept in strict confidence, and follow-up will be conducted by trained personnel.

Since the program's inception, the line has received 109 calls for service (some addresses have been reported multiple times) and the closures of 39 drug houses in the city have been confirmed!

One of Community Action on Crime Prevention's greatest accomplishments has been the inception of the 'Report a Drug House' program, a project for which they have partnered with the RCMP. In March 2007, Community Action on Crime Prevention hosted presentations by Detective Maurice Brodeur of the Edmonton Police Service.  Detective Brodeur's story of success related to his own Report a Drug House Program sparked community interest in having a similar program here in Grande Prairie.

Launched in May 2007, this program provides a dedicated means for Grande Prairie and Area residents to report suspected drug houses within their community to the RCMP.

After a call has been received regarding a house, an RCMP Constable will proceed to conduct a personal investigation into the possibility of drug transactions occurring on the reported property.

Clues to the possibility of illicit activities taking place in a house often include unusually large amounts of garbage being produced, frequent visitors coming at unusual times and staying only briefly, or extreme protective measures around the house (ie. security cameras, reinforced windows or doors).

Listed below are an information sheet, which lists some of the details helpful to police officers investigating suspected drug houses, and a suspected drug house reporting form, which can be filled out and sent to the RCMP detachment, as an alternative to phoning in a report.
