Internet Safety

As the use of the internet becomes more and more popular, so does its misuse.  This age of electronic global connectedness has brought in a number of new ways to communicate, research, and network, but with these new opportunities come new abuses.  Online child exploitation is on the rise in the world, and involves such things as child pornography rings, internet stalking, kidnapping, and moral corruption.

A key factor in preventing these problems is education.  It is entirely possible that internet predators will always be a step ahead of law enforcement - after all, reactive enforcement can't respond to new programs and methods before they've been seen in the criminal environment.  However, families can stay ahead of the criminals by being aware of the potential dangers of the internet, and of what to do in a given situation.  Healthy communication and a cohesive family unit are important parts of ensuring that kids don't fall into these predators' traps.
