Expected Date of Completion - May 2006

The new City of Grande Prairie Police RCMP Building is located on a 0.7 hectare (1.72 acres) site west of 99 St. between the existing Courthouse and the Creative Arts Centre.  The 4,715 sq. m. (50,753 s.f.) building has been designed on three levels to minimize the footprint while maximizing site usage.

An underground tunnel will link the new Police RCMP Building to the existing Courthouse.

The design team has prioritized functionality and sustainability in the building design.  The facility is designed for the future by providing office areas that are flexible and allow for staff growth.  Long term maintenance and operational costs have been addressed by incorporating a low maintenance high-efficiency building envelope coupled with high efficiency mechanical and electrical systems.  Water consumption in the facility is also reduced with careful selection of plumbing fixtures and a high efficiency drip irrigation system.

The new RCMP Building is a registered project with the Canada Green Building Council LEED Program (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design).  This Councilll has a green building Rating System tailored specifically for Canadian climates, construction practices and regulations.  The goal for this building is a Silver Rating.
