The Grande Prairie Friendship Centre is a non-profit organization that is community-level governed by an independent board of directors.

 

The Centre exists to deliver programs and services for urban Aboriginal people, at the same time bridging a cultural gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.  The Centre provides leadership and leadership opportunities to the Aboriginal community.

 

Over the years, the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre has steadily increased its services and credibility in the community.  To meet the demands for services and the long range objectives of self-sufficiency, the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre delivers services from four facilities.  The Campus Outreach Location located at the Grande Prairie Regional College and FUTURES Employment Services and Resource Centre, located at O¹Brien Place.

 

Major programs presently administered by the Friendship Centre include: Aboriginal Head Start, Babies¹ Best Start, First Nations, Metis and Inuit Education Project, One Window Resource Centre Program, Aboriginal Health Liaison Workers, Without Limits Youth Program, and FUTURES Employment Services."
