The John Howard Society is a community-based non-profit organization that is concerned with the causes and consequences of crime.  We believe that crime is a community problem and requires community solutions.  We focus on crime prevention through social development which addresses the risk factors that contribute to crime.  We provide assistance, group therapy, information and referral services free of charge to those affected by the criminal justice system.

Anger Management & Violence Prevention Programs

We offer group therapy programs for men, women, couples and children involved in intimate abuse and/or violence.  Group therapy programs are offered for teens needing anger management.  We offer a two-day workshop on community building/conflict reduction for Gr.7 students.

Academic Programs

We offer criminal justice education to school classes on a variety of topics.  We provide an alternative community-based school program for youth ages 13-16 who are at risk of leaving the school system.

Parenting After Separation Seminars

We offer two all-day workshops for divorcing or separated parents who seek to minimize conflict and communicate effectively.

Client Services

Our office provides information, assistance, referral and support services.  This includes assistance with Pardon applications.
