Sunrise House Youth Emergency Shelter is a safe place to call home when there is no safe place to be. The programs and services Sunrise House provides are for youth, between the ages of 12 and 17. Sunrise House is a safe, temporary, confidential place to stay. Staffs are here to support youth in a variety of ways based on immediate need. All programs offered are on a completely voluntary basis and it is our goal to help youth be safe and make positive choices for their future.
The Youth Emergency Shelter is open all year long, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Staff members are always present and available for help and support. Your confidentiality will always be respected.
Some of the Services we provide:
Shelter – The shelter program provides meals, clothing, and personal care items based on need. Staff will ensure a safe environment where youth feel supported and respected. We offer guidance, counseling, and information as well as allow youth the opportunity to acquire basic life skills. The time frame for residence varies for each individual. Our goal is to help youth find safe, permanent residence within 30 days.
Drop In – Youth are invited to drop into the shelter at anytime, whether it be for a shower, a meal, warm up, or just to talk. No questions asked.
Outreach – Not ready to come to the shelter? Phone and we’ll arrange to meet you! We can provide you with information on how to be safe, and answer questions about the options and supports you have in our community.
Street Outreach is conducted the first and third Friday of the month, in Grande Prairie’s downtown core.
Education – Presentations are available for local community groups, businesses, and schools. Please contact our office for more information.
