Title: Project Engineer/Technologist Transportation
Description:

The City of Grande Prairie is seeking an experienced candidate to join our Transportation Engineering team.  Our challenge is to support a safe and sustainable community by applying best practices in design, construction and infrastructure management.  The department is responsible for the City’s infrastructure/asset management of roads, traffic signals, bridges, storm draining system, sidewalks and pathways.  The department is also responsible for all Transportation capital projects including the annual road rehabilitation program and the sidewalk replacement program.

 

The Project Engineer/Technologist will be directly responsible for Construction Project Management of transportation related infrastructure projects. The Construction Project Manager involvement begins in the planning and design phase, once construction begins; you are responsible for directing a multidisciplinary team of professional consultants, sub-consultants and contractors for projects ranging in complexity from mature neighbourhood rehabilitation (sidewalks and road reconstruction) to arterial road construction, storm drainage systems and bridges.

 

The successful candidate is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) through APEGGA or alternatively a Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) through ASET with 5 years of transportation project management experience.

 

As the successful candidate you will have knowledge of municipal infrastructure design, construction and inspection, including urban transportation networks.  Requirements include knowledge of municipal legislation, contract law and the ability to prepare, negotiate and administer agreements. 

 

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads, self-motivation, strong interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work in a team environment are assets.  The successful candidate must also be proficient in the use of computers in a Windows operating system.
