LIGHT LABOURER/CUSTODIAL WORKER 1

 

Casual/Temporary Part-Time

 

Community Services Department - Coca-Cola Centre

 

 

The successful applicant(s) will perform a wide variety of task to assist the Arena Attendant with the operation of the Coca-Cola Centre including assisting with floods (opening gates/moving nets), general cleaning, set-up/take down of tables and chairs and minor maintenance tasks within the Arena.   Areas of responsibility will include dressing rooms, public spaces and grounds maintenance.  Safe work practices must be observed for all tasks.

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Proven experience in the cleaning and upkeep of a facility; attention to detail a necessity
  • Self-starting attitude and the ability to work well with little supervision
  • “Customer first” approach
  • Reached a minimum of 15 years of age.

 

Assets related to this position would include:

  • Certification in First Aid and WHMIS

 

 

The successful candidate will have the ability to present him/herself in a positive and professional manner through tactful communication (both verbal and written) with co-workers and customers.   He/she will be self-motivated, organizing his/her work to ensure building and participant safety, clean the facility and perform minor maintenance tasks within established facility standards.   This individual must be able to make decisions on his/her own if the supervisor is not available.

 

Hours/week will vary depending upon the schedule.  Shifts will be primarily evenings and weekends seven days a week.

 

The successful candidate may be asked to provide medical information pertaining to job responsibilities.  Smoking restrictions are in effect.

 

The classifications indicate pay rates and normal assignment, with other duties assigned as required, as per C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement - Light Labourer ($16.27)/Custodial Worker 1 ($21.79).
