Title: Program Instructor V Senior Leader Kidzone Summer Playground Program
Description:

We are seeking (5) individuals with proven leadership abilities to work with children aged 3 to 11 years in our Summer Playground Program.   

The successful candidates will be responsible for all aspects of the outdoor recreation program including but not limited to budgeting, planning, promoting, delivering, and evaluating outdoor and indoor activities for children.  All applicants must have at least one year of previous experience leading an outdoor play program.  Experience in leadership, team building, planning special events and working with children is considered an asset.   

The successful candidates will have the ability to present him/herself in a positive and professional manner through tactful communication (both verbal and written) with coworkers and customers.  This self starter will also need to be a team player with the ability to multi-task as required.  The Program Instructor V must have a clear understanding of “child centered” programming and have the ability to plan a 7 week playground program which incorporates all types of play.    The successful candidates will be given 7 weeks for planning, during which they will be expected to help with other events such as the ‘Grande Prairie Get Active Walk’, ‘Kid’s Day in Lions Park’, and ‘Go Girl’, which may fall on a weekend.

Pre-Requisites: 

  • Must have an aptitude for working with children
  • A current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • A Criminal Records Check and Child Welfare Check

 

This position is open to post secondary students in the field of recreation, physical activity, education or related studies who are returning to school in September.   

This is a temporary summer position, consisting of a 14-week work term.  Rate of pay is $19.73/hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
