FUNCTIONS:
As one of the successful candidates, you are directly responsible for Construction Project Management of transportation related infrastructure projects. The Construction Project Manager involvement begins in the planning and design phase, once construction begins; you are responsible for directing a multidisciplinary team of professional consultants, sub-consultants and contractors for projects ranging in complexity from mature neighbourhood rehabilitation (sidewalks and road reconstruction) to arterial road construction, storm drainage systems and bridges. Specific duties include:
· Project planning: providing specialized technical expertise and input regarding constructability, risk assessment and value engineering to resolve conflicts and minimize risks;
· Estimating: developing detailed estimates determining the most appropriate construction methods;
· Tendering: preparing contract documents incorporating special or unique circumstances establishing contractual constraints and determining project schedules;
· Coordinating independent groups to minimize scheduling constraints and impacts ensuring milestones are met;
· Making a variety of decisions regarding in-field design or redesign, acceptability of contractor strategies;
· Responding to various queries / inquiries and liaising between the City and contractors;
· Providing leadership and mentoring with the goal to ensure successful project completion.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· BSc in Civil Engineering Degree from a recognized university with membership in APEGGA; OR a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with membership in ASET.
· 5 years (P.Eng.,) to 7 years (CET or RET) progressively responsible engineering experience related to roadway construction including demonstrated supervisory experience;
· Proven project management and negotiation skills;
· Ability to develop and implement communication plans;
· Knowledge of City By-laws, OH&S legislation, environmental regulations and new and innovative materials, products, technologies and construction techniques;
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation for use on City Business and where appropriate and will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Grande Prairie policy.
HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
SALARY RANGE:
$76,770 - $93,268 Annually. Candidates not possessing the required qualifications may be considered for appointment at an underfill level.
