Upcoming Road Closure on 116 Street
Posted Date: 8/17/2017
Beginning on August 21, 116 Street is closed between 68 Avenue and Township Road 711A.

This closure is part of the 116 Street Asphalt Overlay and Bridge Culvert Replacement Project, which is expected to last from August 21 until September 30.

The closure is required for Reco Construction Ltd. to replace the existing bridge culvert on 116 Street near Township Road 711. “We ask for residents and motorists’ patience during this inconvenience,” says Project Engineer Daniel Dawson.

A detour for the area is to be well signed and can be found on Township Road 710 and Highway 40. This detour is shown in the image below.

Background Information

Built in 1963, the existing bridge culvert carries 116 Street over an offshoot of the Flying Shot Lake. The culvert is at the end of its service and is in need of replacement. Once replaced, a minimum of 45-year service life is expected for the new bridge culvert.

The project also includes an asphalt overlay of the existing 116 Street between the City Limits. The asphalt overlay is required to repair, extend the service life of the existing road and to meet future traffic volumes.
