Mapping of Environmental Reserve and Science Based Setbacks for ER

The City hired a team of consultants to:

  • Map and evaluate wetlands, riparian zones and other natural features
  • Evaluate the quantity and quality to inform priority conservation areas
  • Develop science based setbacks for Bear Creek and other significant wetlands and water bodies.
  • Assess the health of riparian areas and wetlands, and ground truth the designations of Environmentally Significant Areas within the City of Grande Prairie boundary.

South Peace Regional Solid Waste and Recycling Master Plan - Executive Summary

SLR Consulting Canada Limited (SLR) carried out a program of works to assist in planning for the future development of waste and recycling services in the south peace region, partners include:

  • City of Grande Prairie, and Aquatera Utilities Inc as technical representative to
    the City of Grande Prairie
  • the County of Grande Prairie No. 1
  • West County Regional Waste Authority

Sustainability Plans

The City of Grande Prairie has followed Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA)'s Municipal Sustainability Plan (MSP) process and developed a long-term Municipal Sustainability Plan for the community. The City also partnered with AUMA and neighbouring municipalities to create a Regional Sustainability Plan.
