Storm - Bear Creek Slope Rehabilitation

About the Project:

This project was carried over from previous years. Numerous landslides have occurred within the Bear Creek corridor inside the City. Matrix Solutions Inc. was commissioned to undertake a detailed geo-hazard slope and erosion reassessment. The report outlines the findings of the overall stability assessment as it relates to geo-hazard risk, and highlights potential areas of concern.

This project was approved in the 2015-2018 budget. The Bear Creek Corridor Study supports this project.

A combination of Capital Tax, Municipal Sustainability Initiative and Future Expenditure Reserve are the funding sources for this project.

General Scope of Work:

  • Detailed engineering studies to determine the condition and stability of the Bear Creek Corridor and to implement recommended remedial measures
  • Restoration of failed slopes 

Sites for 2018:

  • Northeast corner of 132 Avenue and 116 Street (north of the bridge)
  • West bank of the Woody Channel

Timeline:

Work is scheduled for the 2018 construction season.

Storm - Outfall Repairs or Replacements

Outfall needing repair

About the Project:

Matrix Solutions Inc. did a report on the outfalls through the Bear Creek Corridor. From the report there are recommendations on repairs for the outfalls. The budget is based on doing the worst sites first and doing the remedial repairs later in the budget cycle.

About the Project:

The construction contract has yet to be awarded, but once work begins, they will be repairing cracked and damaged manholes and catch basins.

2018 Storm Line Repair and Replacement

About the Project:

The 2018 Storm Line Repair and Replacement program is a city-wide project that will see the repair and replacement of multiple sections of city-owned storm infrastructure. This year's program includes eight separate locations.2018 Stormline Repair and Replacement

  • 108 Street at approximately 86 Avenue
  • 101 Street at 107 Avenue
  • 105 Street at approximately 97 Avenue
  • Poplar Drive at 70 Avenue

  • 11330 106 Street (Centre 2000)

Budget:

The approved 2018 budget for the Storm Line Repair and Replacement program is $1,500,000.00 and the funding is supplied by the Municipal Sustainability Initiative Grant. 

Timeline:

The work is expected to be completed by the end of the 2018 construction season.

This project consists of construction of the storm ponds within the Richmond Industrial area to alleviate flooding that may occur during major storm events.
