Downtown Rehab Project Open House a Success
Posted Date: 9/28/2017
60 members of the public attended an open house on Wednesday evening for the Downtown Rehabilitation Project.

Attendees included key stakeholders such as downtown business owners and residents.

Five staff from the City and five staff from the engineering consultant engaged in valuable conversations about the design of Phases 3 and 4. Where possible, the feedback received will be incorporated into the design.

Engineering Services department Manager, Kristine Donnelly, spoke with many attendees and commends the level of interest citizens demonstrated.

“Public engagement is vital in recognizing the needs of those impacted by the project” says Donnelly. “We have a deeper level of understanding of the concerns of businesses and have an opportunity to improve moving into Phases 3 and 4.”

Overall, those present acknowledged the need for upgrades to underground utilities in the downtown core.

The City thanks the public for their continued support of the project.

Phases 3 and 4 plan to rehabilitate 100 Avenue between 102 Street and 98 Street and are currently in the design stage. The construction of phases 3 and 4 is dependant on approval during the fall budget deliberations.
