Recreation Access Program Expanded to Five New Facilities

The Recreation Access Program has been expanded to assist eligible applicants access memberships, passes and registered programs at five new participating facilities.

The full list of participating facilities now includes the Eastlink Centre, Grande Prairie Museum, Muskoseepi Park, Dave Barr, Heritage Discovery Centre and the Coca-Cola Centre.

“We are excited to be offering the RAP program at more locations across the City because it increases the program’s flexibility and accessibility, enabling more options and opportunities for our residents to participate in activities without financial barriers. This expansion is a testament to the value and benefit the program has in our community,” says Angela Sutherland, manager of Community Social Development.

The program offers a 75% subsidy on memberships, passes and registered programs to qualifying applicants. This enables participants to access the facilities for only 25% of the regular admission price. Applications to access the program can be completed year-round. Proof of address, household income and documentation for dependant children is all required for the application. To be eligible, applicants’ income must not exceed the Low-Income Cut-Off level determined by Statistics Canada +30%.

This is a pilot program to help ensure residents of all backgrounds have access to City-owned leisure, recreation and fitness facilities. Providing this program to eligible participants helps support thriving, healthy and connected individuals, families and communities in Grande Prairie.
