Litter Reduction

Our litter reduction program focuses on enhanced municipal services, community engagement, public education and enforcement.

Litter Reduction Plan

City Scrub Logo

The Environmental Stewardship Department has created a plan to reduce the amount of litter in the community. The Plan will consist of:

  • Neighbourhood cleanup kits
  • Big bin events
  • An education campaign
  • Advocating for an increase in the provincial littering fine

City Scrub

The annual program started in the spring of 2005.

Every year schools, businesses, residents and community groups volunteer 20 minutes of their time to pick up garbage in and around the city.

City Scrub Participation

From 2005 - 2012 the City recorded the number of participants by having people email or call in the number of volunteers who participated in the clean-up.
