Open Data Content GraphicWhat is Open Data?

Open Data is the philosophy that information should be accessible by anyone, free to use, reuse and redistribute for any lawful purpose.  Providing datasets to the public has the potential to foster innovation in the community and build trust between the local government and citizens through transparency and accountability.

Open Data Policy 702

Open Data Policy 702 was approved by City Council on March 24, 2014. The policy marks the City’s commitment to Open Data and defines the Guiding Principles of Dataset Management.

Dataset Publishing Procedure

The Dataset Publishing Procedure was created to help ensure that datasets are released to the public in a manner that fulfils the standards set forth in the Open Data Policy. The procedure also defines the roles and responsibilities of departments in regard to data release and dataset management.
