City of Grande Prairie History Book 

Saluting our Community Builders 

Spirit of the North: 100 Years of Community Building in Grande Prairie launched on July 31 in conjunction with celebrations marking Grande Prairie reaching its centennial.

More than 180 vignettes have been produced by Edmonton-based writer Mark Kozub on individuals and families who’ve made Grande Prairie what it is today. These range from modern-day community builders to pioneers.

The 14-chapter coffee-table style book costs $25 plus GST and is available at Centre 2000, City Hall and the Grande Prairie Museum.

Numerous vintage photos are included in the publication which has a print run of 1,500 copies.

About the Author

Kozub’s earlier books include Celebrating Success in Edmonton and A Calgary Album – Glimpses of the Way We Were, with a contributing author credit on Big Enough Dreams, featuring profiles of adults with developmental disabilities.
