Traffic Sign Maintenance

Traffic Sign Maintenance is responsible for the following:

  • Traffic sign installation within the City, as determined by Engineering Services
  • Repair of broken, turned or knocked down signs
  • Creation of all street signs, regulatory signs are made externally
  • Creation of custom signs for other City departments
  • Line painting maintenance
  • Parking meter repair
  • Traffic Control for parades and events

To report a broken, turned or knocked down Traffic sign, please call the Citizen Contact Centre at 780-538-0300 or report the issue online at cityofgp.com/report-issues

Traffic Sign Maintenance is not responsible for the following:

  • Traffic Signs does not install or maintain signs on the by-pass. Sign maintenance on the by-pass falls under the jurisdiction of the Province. To report a broken or downed sign, please contact Alberta Transportation’s maintenance contractors, Ledcor, at 780-814-8126.
  • Traffic signs does not decide on new traffic sign or crosswalk installations. To discuss the installation of a sign or crosswalk, please contact Engineering Services or call the Citizen Contact Centre at 780-538-0300 for assistance.

 

Traffic Signals Maintenance

Traffic Signals Maintenance is responsible for the following:

  • Maintenance and installation of Traffic Signal Lights within in the City, including By-pass.
    (Province is invoiced for this maintenance work)
  • Ensuring traffic lights work
  • Repair of damaged, knocked down poles and burnt out traffic lights
  • Repair of lights that won’t change or turn on
  • Maintenance of pedestrian x-walk buttons
  • Maintenance of decorative lights downtown

Traffic Signals is not responsible for the following:

  • Signal timings
  • Requests for new signal lights
  • Repair of street light standards that line the roads – ATCO is responsible for this
  • Repair of lights in Muskoseepi Park – ATCO is responsible for this
  • Repair of City Park lights – Facilities Department is responsible for this
  • Maintenance of decorative lights in subdivisions
  • Maintenance of Christmas Lights in the downtown core – Parks Department is responsible for this
