How will I know a Parking Ban has been declared or lifted? Snow Route

Residents and visitors are responsible for knowing if parking bans have been declared. Notifications on parking bans can be found:

  • In the News section of our website
  • On our official Facebook or Twitter
  • On local radio stations
  • By calling the Citizen Contact Centre at 780-538-0300

When are parking bans declared?

Parking bans can be declared by the Transportation Services Manager, or designate, when snow and ice accumulations are significant. Parking bans will be declared on Permanent Snow Routes (PDF, 732 KB) anytime between November 15 until April 15  and will be in effect on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Once conditions improve and priority roads are cleared, parking bans will be lifted.

Parking Ban Enforcement

Vehicles parked on permanent snow routes when parking bans are declared will be subject to fine and/or tow as per Traffic Bylaw #C-1166.

Temporary Parking Bans

Temporary Parking Bans are placed on temporary snow routes in residential areas. Public and social media announcements will be issued to alert residents when Residential Snow Plowing Service will begin. If vehicles are left on the road, the street may not get cleared.
