Horacio Galanti assumed the role of Community Safety Director in August 2013.
Mr. Galanti is a Civil Engineer and has worked most of his 20-year career in Local Government, Municipal Engineering and Public Works, with more than 16 years in Senior Management roles. Horacio had also direct involvement in guiding Departments like Planning, GIS, Energy Management and Sustainable Development to obtain successful results to promote livable Communities for current and future generations.
His work experiences have spanned from his home roots in Argentina, to Brazil and here in Canada.
The Community Safety Service Area includes the group of departments that have a direct influence on our community’s safety processes.
The Service Area includes:
These departments work together to create a safe community for our residents. Our departments take an all-encompassing focus that ensures clear planning, prevention, mitigation strategies and response processes.
The area of Community Safety has a total of 245 permanent employees and approximately 65 temporary and casual employees.
The entire Service Area has an annual operating budget of approximately $46 million and annual capital budget of approximately $38 million.
