Overview:

This adaptable program provides opportunities to explore life as a settler in the early 1900’s and to learnabout the development of the regional community of Grande Prairie. A variety of interactive activities maybe chosen to expand the role-play experience with curriculum links to science and social studies.pioneer wagon 1920

Activities (choice of two for each program):

Please note certain activities only take place when the Heritage Village is open. If outdoor activities are chosen, please choose an alternative activity(s) in case of rain or Heritage Village closure:

  • Butter Making
    • Please let us know if any students are gluten intolerant or lactose intolerant so that alternate ingredients can be purchased.
  • Log Cabin Building (individually with Lincoln logs)
  • Log Cabin Building (group activity to build large cabin together)
  • Tub ‘n Scrub Laundry (Heritage Village must be open)
  • Rope Making
  • Old Fashioned School House Re-enactment (Heritage Village must be open)
  • Pipestone Creek Store Penny Candy Experience (Heritage Village must be open)
