From large events, to free programs and activities, to enjoying our beautiful parks and recreation spaces, the City provides many options all year round to get out with your family and enjoy the city. All Year Round

Art Gallery Art Gallery Exhibit

The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie offers free admission all year round.

Grande Prairie Museum
The Grande Prairie Museum is open all year round, seven days a week. They often host exhibit openings, historical demonstrations and special events throughout the year. See the calendar here.

Heritage Discovery Centre
The Heritage Discovery Centre (HDC) is an exciting interpretive museum open daily, all year round.

Eastlink Centre
The Eastlink Centre common areas are always open to the public. Kids can participate in free games such as Bucket Ball, Spike Ball, Chess, Checkers, Snakes and Ladders, Beam (projector games on the floor), Yahtzee, Twister and the Bean Bag Toss.
People are always welcome to watch sporting events from the bleachers played in the Fieldhouse.

 


Summer

Open seven days a week, June through August. Tours, special events and programs are featured throughout the summer months.

Culture & Heritage Seasonal Crafts
Throughout the summer months, the Culture and Heritage department hosts free seasonal crafts. Detail can be found on their event calendar.

Summer Playgrounds
Visit a different playground every day! The City has a variety of different playground structures and setups located throughout the city. Download a map here.

Eastlink Centre Summer Programs

The Eastlink Centre hosts free summer programs, educational programs and guided tours. For more information check out the event calendar.

South Bear Creek ParkJubilee Park
Mountain bike, hike or walk the natural trails of South Bear Creek Park. You might even catch a glimpse of a volleyball or ball game while you’re there. Obtain maps of all the City trails here.

South Bear Creek is also home to a BMX track, skateboard park and off-leash dog park.

Spray Parks
In the summer months, the spray parks turn on. Choose from the two City parks; Muskoseepi Park entrance located at 102 St. and 102 Av. and Lions Park located at 90 Ave. and 100 St.

Bird Watching
In the spring, summer and fall months, waterfowl frequent the dock at Crystal Lake, located within Muskoseepi Park.

Ornamental Flower DisplaysFamily by Lake
Designed in 1963. Jubilee Park is our highly valued Ornamental Park situated in downtown Grande Prairie. It’s perfect for weddings, photography or simple relaxing in its beautiful surroundings.

Edible Orchards
You can pick fruit from the edible orchards located throughout the City. Contact Parks Operations for locations.

Community Garden
The City’s Environmental Stewardship department helps establish community gardens in conjunction with community groups and neighbourhood associations. Lend a hand to help plant, weed, water, mow and maintain the garden.

 


Winter

Skating on Muskoseepi Pond Santa Clause Parade Floats 2016
Grab your skates as this hockey-free rink is free for use in the winter months. Find information and dates of operation here.

Outdoor Hockey Rinks
Kids will love to skate on one of the neighbourhood outdoor rinks throughout the City. To find your closest one, check out the list here.

Sledding & Tobogganing
Let the kids have their sliding adventure at Swanavon Thrill Hill located at 88 Av. and 102 St. or west of the Muskoseepi Pavilion at Borstad Hill.

Neighbourhood Associations Events 

In February, local neighbourhood associations host community gatherings throughout the city. Find out when your neighbourhood party is at the event calendar here.

Watch Minor Hockey Games, Figure Skating & Speed Skating
Local athletic clubs and associations often host games, tournaments and competitions that are open to viewing by the public. Check out each of the arena’s event calendars to find out what’s coming up.

Take in the frosty, natural trails of South Bear Creek Park with snowshoeing or cross country skiing.
