Community Connections Fall 2017 Photo Contest  

Terms and Conditions

1. The promoter is the City of Grande Prairie, Community Connections whose registered office is at 10205 - 98 Street, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 2E7.

2. The competition is open to residents of the Canada aged 18 years or over except employees of the City of Grande Prairie and anyone otherwise connected with the judging of the competition.

3. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

4. By entering a photo submission in this competition, the entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

5. Route to entry for the competition will be a photo submission to connections@cityofgp.com. Entrants will receive a photo release form within two days after the photo submission. The photo release form must be filled out and returned to connections@cityofgp.com or in person at City Hall, 10205 - 98 Street, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 2E7 before 8:00 a.m. on July 18, 2017.


6. Only three photo submissions will be accepted per entrant. More than three submissions per entrant will not be accepted.

7. Closing date for photo submissions will be 8:00 a.m. on July 18, 2017. After this date, no further photo submissions to the competition will be permitted. The top three photo submissions will be posted on the Community Connections Facebook page. Users can cast one vote on their favorite entry between 12:00 p.m. on July 19, 2017 and at 12:00 p.m. on July 26, 2017.


8. No responsibility can be accepted for photo submissions not received for whatever reason.

9. The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:
Entrants will send in high quality recreational, leisure or seasonal activity photos to connections@cityofgp.com. The top three submissions will be chosen out of all submissions by the Citizen Engagement & Communications department. Facebook users will vote on which of the final three submissions they would like to see on the front cover of the Community Connections publication.


Submissions must include the following in order to be considered:
• Photos must have been taken in Grande Prairie
• Images should be of recreational, leisure or seasonal activity
• Images must be submitted as a digital file in jpeg format
• Minimum file size resolution: 2500 x 1600 pixels @72 dpi (equal to a 4-megapixel image)
• Print photographs will not be accepted
• Photographer must sign a release form
• Photos may be used at a future date
• Each Facebook user can vote only once. Multiple votes from the same user will be disqualified.


10. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.


11. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party.


12. The prize is as follows:

• The winning photo submission will appear on cover of the fall edition of Community Connections.

The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

13. The selected three submissions will be notified by email that they have been chosen as a contender in the photo contest. The final winner (after vote tabulation) will be notified through the Community Connections Facebook post. Direct Message within two days of the submission close date.


14. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize by 12:00 p.m. on July 31, 2017, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner based on the next highest total votes.


15. The promoter will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected within two weeks of the closure of the competition.

16. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

18. The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by Canadian law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta, Canada.

19. The winner agrees to the use of his/her name on the Community Connections Facebook page solely for the purposes of winner notification. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will not be disclosed to any third party. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with Canadian Freedom of Information Protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party.

20. A photo submission entered into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.

21. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any other Social Network. You are providing your information to the City of Grande Prairie, Citizen Engagement & Communications and not to any other party. The information provided will be used in conjunction with the following Privacy Policy found at www.cityofgp.com/index.aspx?page=1302.

22. The promoter's decision as to those able to take part and selection of winners is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.

23. Community Connections shall have the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to change or modify these terms and conditions, such change shall be effective immediately upon posting to this web page.
