Canada 150 Funding

  • Alberta Canada 150 Grant (Provincial)

    • Provided support to projects that aligned with the four themes of the Federal Canada 150 approach:
      1. Diversity, inclusion and the building of common interests and relationships.
      2. Supporting efforts towards reconciliation of indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians.
      3. Engaging and inspiring youth to carry forward the legacy of Canada 150.
      4. Connecting Canadians with nature and raising environmental stewardship to the level of national consciousness.
  • Canada History Fund (Federal)

    • Supported the development of learning materials and activities that contribute to increasing Canadians' knowledge about Canada. The Fund focus's its support on projects that commemorate key milestones and celebrate people who have helped shape our country as we know it today.
  • Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage - (Federal)

This federal grant program offered funding through three separate components:

  1. Local Festivals: Provides funding to local groups for recurring festivals that present the work of local artists, artisans and heritage performers.
  2. Community Anniversaries: Provides funding to local groups for non–recurring local events, with or without a minor capital project. Eligible events and capital projects are those that commemorate the 100th anniversary or greater (in increments of 25 years) of a significant local historical event or personality.
  3. Legacy Fund: provides funding for community-initiated capital projects that restore, renovate or transform an existing building or exterior space (such as a statue, community hall, monument, garden or work of art) intended for community use. Eligible capital projects are those that commemorate the 100th anniversary or greater (in increments of 25 years), of a significant local historical event or personality.
