A picture is worth a thousand words! Discover the stories behind a series of themed historical photographs through this educational program. Students will develop their visual literacy skills by describing, analyzing and interpreting historical photographs provided by the South Peace Regional Archives. Students will gain a better understanding of the region’s social, political and/or economic environment present during a particular period in time. The series of photographs’ theme changes yearly.

Please contact a Programming and Events Coordinator to learn more.

Activity:

Participants will break off into smaller groups to describe, analyze and interpret a historical photograph. Participants will try to piece together the purpose of the photograph and the story behind the people present in the photograph. Each group will get to present their findings with the larger group before revealing the true story behind the photograph that they studied.
