Mamawe Concourse is part of the ourMontrose site, a vibrant Cultural District in the City of Grande Prairie where people gather to celebrate, create, and learn.

Located at the south entrance to the Montrose Cultural Centre, Mamawe concourse provides an active pedestrian link within the City of Grande Prairie’s Cultural District. The site features a large, open space designed for year-round community activities such as outdoor programming, cultural celebrations, and public events as well as a variety of seating areas for passive recreation or gathering, indigenous vegetation and the City’s Community Garden.

Mamawe Concourse recognizes the important relationship between the City of Grande Prairie and the Indigenous People in our region. Mamawe, a Woodland Cree term meaning Gathering was chosen for this site in consultation with Traditional Elders.

In recognition of Indigenous People’s contribution, Mamawe honours this public space for everyone to gather in the Spirit of Reconciliation. Mamawe Concourse is a place to celebrate our rich and diverse cultures in the heart of the City.
