2018 Rapid Flashing Beacons

About the Project: Rapid Flashing Beacons

Grande Prairie's first rapid flashing beacons have been installed at seven different locations throughout the city. Rapid flashing beacons are activated when a pedestrian pushes a button at a designated crosswalk and are used to catch drivers' attention with light emitting diodes (LEDs) mounted on poles. It is important for pedestrians to still keep an eye out for vehicles.

The rapid flashing beacons have been installed in seven locations throughout the city:

  • 108 Street and 132 Avenue
  • 104A Street and Royal Oaks Drive (Roy Bickell School)
  • 89A Street and Crystal Lake Drive (Chandelier Park)

  • 98 Street and 103 Avenue (Grande Prairie Public Library)
  • Pinnacle Drive (École Nouvelle Frontière)
  • 104A Street and 74 Avenue (Derek Taylor School)
