Residential Snow Clearing Continues On Smaller Scale
Due to minimal snow fall, Transportation crews are performing scaled back residential snow plowing. The main roads are essentially clean of snow and crews are conducting road patrols and sanding icy patches and intersections.

Bear Creek Outdoor Pool 50% Drawings approved
A tender will be issued by early 2017 for the renovation of the Bear Creek Pool complex. Fifty per cent drawings were reviewed at a Council Committee of the Whole meeting last week where Administration was directed to pursue Waterslide Option A in the tender package.

Homelessness In Province Continues Downward Trend
In the second province-wide Point-in-Time Count of Homelessness (Count), Alberta’s one night Count dropped by 19.2% from 6663 in 2014 to 5373 in 2016. Since 2008 this represents a 31% decrease in homelessness across the province.

Council Uses Surplus, Reserve To Reduce Tax Increase
City Council today used a portion of the 2016 surplus and accessed the Financial Stabilization Reserve to reduce the 2017 tax increase to 0.5 per cent, an impact of $17 on the average home.

The Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Program for 2016 is complete. This year three pedestrian bridges within the Muskoseepi Park trail system were replaced. All three bridges came in under budget and were completed on time.

GPRC Successful in SSHRC Funding for PACT Team Research
