The focus of Alberta Dutch Elm Disease (DED) Awareness week, June 22-28, is to raise awareness on the dangers of the disease and emphasize the importance of elm trees to our communities.

Residential Street Sweeping Program Underway Transportation Services has begun street sweeping in residential areas. Robert Carroll, Transportation Services Manager, says the program takes up to six weeks with main and arterial roads being addressed first. “We’ve moved on to residential streets now that we’ve completed these roadways,” he says.

Twelfth Municipal Government Day A Success
Intermittent showers couldn’t dampen the spirit of Wednesday’s Municipal Government Day. About 2,000 hamburgers and hotdogs were grilled up and handed out by City employees at the barbecue, which was moved to the Pavilion area.

Grande Prairie’s third Neighbourhood Association is about to become a reality! Last Thursday, more than 30 residents from Mountview East, West and Summit attended a presentation on forming a Neighbourhood Association. As a result a Board of Directors was approved and only a few small steps are still required prior to submitting their paperwork to Service Alberta.
