Annual Municipal Celebration Next Week

MGD 2017It’s only one week until Grande Prairie’s annual community barbecue and family entertainment festival.

Municipal Government Day is on June 28 at Muskoseepi Park.

MGD Tim Hicks Free ConcertThis year’s entertainment menu features Canadian Country music star Tim Hicks who brings his Shake These Walls tour to the event for a free concert.

Municipal Government Day is one of the Fabulous Five events the City is presenting in 2017 to mark Canada’s sesquicentennial. See for more details.

Festivities get underway at 4 p.m. Hicks is joined by Dan Davidson and the Range Road Ramblers. Music runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The barbecue goes to 6:30 p.m.

This free family event also features bouncy castles, face painting, a mini train and the RCMP dog handler. City equipment as well as exhibits by municipal departments and community organizations will be on display. Check out for more info.

Family-friendly Event

“This is a great opportunity for families to learn more about City programs and services as well as community agencies, they can meet their neighbours and have a good time listening to some great music,” says David Olinger, Manager of Intergovernmental Affairs. “The event is completely free and we’re delighted it’s part of the Canada 150 celebrations.”

Special Notifications

There is no parking within the Park. The Disabled Transportation Society is available at the top of the hill at 102 St. to transport residents with mobility challenges into the park.

Grande Prairie Transit is providing free service from noon to 10 p.m. on Municipal Government Day.

No alcohol will be permitted in the Park during the barbecue or concert.

Residents are asked not to bring dogs into the park with the large volume of people and anticipated large crowd.
