Municipal Government Day Venue Changed
Posted Date: 6/27/2017
MGD 2017 Weather Change NotificationThe location for Wednesday’s Municipal Government Day has been changed to Revolution Place.

Rainy, cool weather is in the forecast for the next two days. The change of location from Muskoseepi Park allows much of the free event, including the Tim Hicks concert, to continue as planned.

“Residents and visitors will be able to experience most aspects of Municipal Government Day they have come to enjoy,” says Councillor Kevin O’Toole, Chair of the Municipal Government Day Committee.

“In addition to hearing an award-winning, chart-topping performer, we are maintaining the barbecue, bouncy castles, face painting, equipment displays and exhibits by City departments and community organizations.”

Municipal Government Day is one of the Fabulous Five events the City is presenting in 2017 to mark Canada’s sesquicentennial. See http://bit.ly/2kjizyk for more details.

Festivities get underway at 4 p.m. Hicks is joined by Dan Davidson and the Range Road Ramblers. Music runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The barbecue goes to 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Further concert details will be announced later today.

Family-friendly event

“This is a great opportunity for families to learn more about City programs and services as well as community agencies, they can meet their neighbours and have a good time listening to some great music,” says David Olinger, Manager of Intergovernmental Affairs. “The event is completely free and we’re delighted it’s part of the Canada 150 celebrations.”

Free Transit Service

Grande Prairie Transit is providing free service from noon to 10 p.m. on Municipal Government Day.
