Revolution Place Plaza Renovation
Posted Date: 7/7/2017

Road Closure Map
Renovation of the Revolution Place Plaza will commence on Monday, July 10. Upgrades to this area include removing aging exterior materials and resurfacing the plaza. This upgrade will increase the usability of the existing space, and serve as an additional area for future events.

Upon completion, the new plaza will offer the opportunity for Revolution Place to host outdoor events including weddings, trade shows, art installations and holiday celebrations. The space has the potential to be used year round for stand-alone events, or complement existing activities inside the venue.

North Entrance to Revolution Place Closed

During construction, the north entrance adjacent to 99 Avenue will be closed. The parking lot will still be accessible from the east entrance off 100 Street. The Wendy`s Restaurant parking lot will not be affected by construction.
In June of this year, the plaza upgrade and surfacing project was awarded to Wapiti Gravel Suppliers.

Background - Bricks Donated in 1995

Bricks were purchased in 1995 by members of the community to support the Revolution Place plaza construction. Each brick was then personalized with a family or business name. The bricks have endured over 20 years of Grande Prairie weather, with a majority still intact. However a small amount of bricks have been damaged or suffered significant wear and tear. Revolution Place invites donors to inquire about their family or businesses brick. The surviving bricks will be collected and stored until a future date.

Residents interested in retrieving their brick can contact cboers@cityofgp.com for more information.

In addition, to honour the community members who supported this project, Revolution Place is planning a permanent form of recognition with the names of all community members who supported the enhancement project in 1995. More information will be released in late 2017.
